Regenerative Medicine Using PRP Injections

What is Regenerative Medicine?

Regenerative medicine uses platelet-rich plasma (PRP) or stem cells to treat chronic pain, sports injuries, and aesthetics such as hair growth and facial treatments.

The body’s plasma is comprised of proteins that can help your blood clot or support cell growth. Plasma from your blood can be isolated and concentrated to develop PRP. During regenerative medicine therapy, we inject the PRP directly back into your body.

When our specialists provide PRP injections, damaged tissues are stimulated to regenerate healthy cells. We believe that the concentration of the special proteins improves healing speed.

By delivering specific types of cells to affected tissue, our specialists can help with the regeneration process. Stem cells go through a process called differentiation that allows them to turn into whatever type of cell is needed. We use cell-based regenerative therapy for bone marrow transplants. We can also gather skin cells and reconfigure them in a lab before returning them to the patient as regenerative medicine.

Why do people get PRP injections?

At Elite Medicine Clinics DFW there are a variety of reasons for PRP injections. including the following:

  • Tendon or ligament injuries. PRP injections for problems with the tendon, including Achilles tendonitis and tennis elbow, could speed up an otherwise slow healing process. Torn tendons or ligaments that have been treated with surgery may also benefit from PRP injections.
  • Sports injuries. Pulled muscles, sprains, or other acute injuries might benefit from PRP injections.
  • Hair loss. PRP injections have been used to treat male pattern baldness and/or encourage hair regrowth.
  • Aesthetics. We can use PRP injections to tighten pores and improve the appearance of scars and wrinkles.

How are PRP injections given?

At Elite Medicine Clinics DFW we take special care with PRP injections. We start by applying a topical numbing solution to your skin before administering the PRP injection. When approved by a surgeon, regenerative medicine injections can also be administered during surgery.

Other notes about PRP injections

We also want you to know that PRP injections are sometimes referred to as a vampire facial because the procedure uses your blood. If you are interested in regenerative medicine, please call us to schedule an appointment with one of our specialists.
